Children are likely to have already explored the grammatical forms in use in this lesson and are now
applying it to a new writing genre.
Children will be familiar with a range of different text forms. The Guinness World Records book will
provide a new example of a nonfiction or reference text.
Children may be familiar with 8world records9. They are less likely to be familiar with these specific
individuals or their particular strengths.
Children should be familiar with drafting and editing their ideas, as well as adding in set grammatical and
form elements against an objective.
The spellings highlighted here are typical spellings from a year 5 and 6 spelling list. They may be familiar
with 8silent9 spellings by happenstance but may not have considered that these are a common group of
words.
